Member Ranks & Staff

There have been multiple questions about ranks so here's the overal plan:

User specific ranks;
Owner - this is reserved for ND's owner, TheNerd
Head Admin - this is reserved for ND's Head Administrator

Currently there are staff ranks;
Admin - have been appointed to assist with site management
Mod - the people who keep everyone else in line
Staff Member - staff that have special jobs.

Also there exists specialized ranks;
Nerd - can answer any tech question you have.
Pro Member - Either retired staff or users that have been chosen by staff.

The following are the basic ranks;
Sr. Member (those who have 500+ posts)
Plus Member (those who have 150+ posts)
Jr. Member (those with 50+ posts)
Member (those who have recently signed up.)

As well as, a not so special rank;
Banned - have disrespected the site and are not welcome back

There are a few things that differ between the basic ranks above. Each rank will have different rates at which they get removed due to inactivity. The current planned rates are as follows.
- Member = removed if not logged in at least once every 30 days
- Jr Member = removed if not logged in at least once every 90 days
- Plus Member = removed if not logged in at least once every 180 days - Sr. Member = not removed due to inactivity.

Currently, if you are a Staff Member, Nerd or Pro Member, then you need not worry about getting removed. As long as you have a special rank you won't be removed.

Sr. Members, Pro Members, Nerds and Staff all have access to the exclusive boards under "TheLounge". Here users may talk about anything they wish. Additional perks of being Sr Member +, you can change the theme of the site to your preference and you can change your display name.

the most frequently asked question is ...

"How do I increase my rank?"
Answer is you don't ... after 50 posts your rank should automatically adjust from Member to Jr. Member, and after 150 posts your rank should automatically adjust from Jr. Member to Plus Member and so on.

the second most frequently asked question is ...

"How do I become a moderator (aka staff)?"
Answer is that the active staff hand pick users who appear to be good candidates for modship (been here for a long time, are fairly active, and follow the rules). New staff are picked only when the current staff feel there is a need. There is no need to contact us about becoming a staff member or telling us that you think we need more staff members. Doing so will only serve to annoy us. If we however make a post asking for staff, you may then submit an application.

another frequently asked question is ...

"How do I become an Nerd?"
Similar to moderators, new Nerds are selected by the current staff.

and lastly ...

"How can I become a Pro Member?"
Pro Members are hand picked, and are users that are fairly active, have been on the site for a long time and follow the rules. Please don't ask to become a Pro Member, unless you are a Sr. Member. This will just annoy us and make your chances smaller.
